Specialties: Children, Adolescents, Anxiety, Depression, Autism Spectrum, Dysregulation, Trauma, Grief and Loss.

Hi, My name is Kyera K McCrimmon. I  graduated from North Carolina State University with my M.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in December of 2023, and I am honored that you’re here. We all navigate life in our own unique ways. My mission is to offer you a compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself, discover new perspectives, and foster personal growth in your life. I am committed to providing therapy to individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual identity, or socioeconomic status.

Rooted in my counseling practice is a dedication to creating a safe and affirming space that encourages individuals to be their truest selves. As a therapist, I often am privileged to gain valuable insights and lessons from my clients’ resilience and unique life experiences. You might ask yourself,
“what can she learn from me”? By embarking on your personal therapeutic journey, you might just discover the answers to those questions.

I am deeply passionate about assisting adolescents and teens between the ages of 6-17 who are grappling with anxiety, depression, and emotional concerns. I have a talent for establishing connections with children, which helps me to foster positive changes in their lives through therapy. Topics of interest include assisting parents of children on the Autism Spectrum, and children experiencing emotional dysregulation as a result of trauma, the foster care system, and adoption.

Most of all, I enjoy working with individuals of all ages who are navigating life’s challenges unique to them: managing anxiety, depression, exploring personal identity and values, processing grief and loss, relationship concerns, and more. Understanding that therapy takes courage and openness, I assure you that as your therapist, I'll support you, honor your pace, and help you unlock your natural ability to heal and grow.

Are you feeling anxious, out of place, like you don’t belong or that you have outgrown your environment? Everyone experiences some anxiety and stressors, but how do you know when you need help? If you're looking into therapy, you already answered the second question: It's likely time for some guidance in your mental health journey. I'm here to help! Whether you're new to therapy or returning, I am so happy you're here.

I completed my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling at East Carolina University in December of 2023. Throughout my time at ECU, I worked for grant Project Engage ENC, assisting those in recovery from substance use get back into the workforce. I later completed my Clinical Internship at a private practice in North Carolina, where I learned even more about mental health and substance use. I have successfully worked with a diverse population of clients and mental health needs throughout my years in the field.

I work with a variety of clients and issues, including Women's Issues, Addictions/Substance Use, Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Transitional Periods, Suicidal Thoughts, Grief and Loss. As a clinician recently diagnosed with ADHD, I have a strong passion for helping others with untreated ADHD symptoms, as I know just how strenuous these symptoms can be. Untreated ADHD symptoms can often present as depression and anxiety symptoms, so it can be challenging to even know where to start (Hello ADHD paralysis!). Rest assured, no matter what you are facing, we will work together to come up with a plan that works for you in your mental health journey.

In my space, you will be met with someone who is genuine, real, and compassionate. I utilize an eclectic approach to counseling, including the use of the following techniques: Rogerian Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT and DBT worksheets, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Coping Skills, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

If you haven't heard this recently: thank you for being here, you are so strong to face all that life has thrown your way. If you're looking for a counselor who is curious, wants to learn from you, and be a part of your mental health journey, please reach out. I offer a safe, judgement-free zone for you to talk through emotions, big or small.

JD, Raleigh

To whoever is reading this review, congratulations. No, not for the difficulties you have in your life right
now, but for seeking therapy and hitting it out of the park with your choice of counselors. You know
what? Therapy works. It works faster and is more complete with an excellent therapist. I had
previously been in counseling for years and made some tangible progress, but when I began seeing
Shannon, I looked around for a seatbelt to buckle in with. The changes in my life were almost
immediate. Working with Shannon brought my marriage back from an almost certain divorce. I have
stabilized, remained out of the hospital and all the while simultaneously titrating OFF most of my
medication. Make no mistake though… when I said therapy works, it only works as well as you WANT to
change. The life-changing therapy like I have had with Shannon, although her style is ALWAYS
supportive and caring, will not be trivial. This is an experienced counselor who mentors other
therapists. The question is, do you want your life to stay the way it is now? I didn’t. Shannon will help
you quickly identify your current priorities, where you want your life to be and how to best get there. I
can say confidently without even knowing your diagnosis, you are in the best place you can be right now
just by choosing Shannon... and get ready for some positive changes.
